Stomp Out Diabetes 2 Family Fun Day
Hi everyone,
I was hoping I could attach the flyer. But instead I have copied and pasted the info and tried to format what's left for an easier read. This event has been advertised by my son's school (Cobb Middle) and looks to be informative and fun for the whole family. Please contact me for further questions and with interest.
Thanks,
Kim Simpkins

You won’t want to miss this day of family fun and free Diabetes information at Tom Brown Park on February 27th as Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, The City of Tallahassee, Premier Health and Fitness, and the Foundation for Leon County Schools team up to raise money and community awareness to combat Type 2 Diabetes.
Gulf Winds Track Club and Capital City Cyclists will be donating registration proceeds from their 5K run/walk and Mountain Bike Races to help our public schools fund wellness programs.
There are divisions for both experienced and beginning runners and riders, so please visit these sites to register:
For the 5K run/walk: http://www.gulfwinds.org/
For the Mountain bike races: http://www.cccyclists.org/
Please check registration sites for start times. Participation trophies will be awarded to the elementary, middle, and high school that has the most participants in these events, so please register today!
In addition to the runs and races, children can have fun and learn about healthy choices by:
• Participating in the Celebrity Activity Center where children interact with local celebrity coaches to gain informationabout wellness. Prizes for those who finish the activity center! Please register with your school before February 19th.
• Interacting with fire fighters who will be on hand to demonstrate how they combine work and exercise to maintain wellness!
• Interacting with Parks and Recreation staff as they showcase their programs and create fun stations at the park!
If you can’t make it to Tom Brown Park on February 27th, please consider donating dollars to sponsor a school wellness program.
Just visit the event registration sites to find out how or contact

Springtime Tallahassee 5K/10K
Hello Everyone. I'm trying to organize a team for the upcoming Sringtime Tallahasse race. The process is simple. You sign up to run the race (see attached form or you can go to gulfwinds.org and click on race calendar and there is link that allows you to register online). If you want to be a member of Trinty Team, let me know and I'll put you down. Let me know what race you are signed up for (10k or 5k).
We need at least five runners/walkers to make a team with at least one female. We can have as many people as we want on the team. Only the top five finishers will be scored. Don't feel like you have to run fast to be on the team. The goal is to get out, enjoy this event with fellow church members!
With the church's blessing, I'm hoping we can meet at the church for a pre-race bagel/coffee/juice and prayer and then walk over to the race.
The race is Saturday morning and starts at 8:10. There is a 1-mile fun run that starts at 7:45 if you are interested in that. There is not a team catagory for the one-miler.
On a final note, there is a Springtime Training group that meets at Myers Park (in the parking lot) at 5:30 every Monday. If you want to come and participate in that, feel free. It doesn't cost anything. They do ask that you at least be able to run 2-3 miles. There is a beginning group, an intermediate group, and an advanced group.
I'll be at the health screening (February 21st) with the sign-up sheet for anyone that's interested. Also, if you know of anyone who you think will be interested, please let me know. Thanks.
Also, the youth may have some Trinity Tee-shirts for sale ($10) and it may be a good idea for us to wear at the race.
